A client opportunity in Construction Project Management

The Mandate:

Reporting directly to the Head of Project Management Operations as well as one of the Principals and Owners, the successful candidate will be a key member of our firm’s professional staff, and responsible for leading significant project management engagements and teams on our clients’ mandates.

More specifically, the Project Manager will be accountable for:

Comprehensive management of client projects throughout all phases of development from pre-construction through post-construction;
Ongoing project development and business development interface with new and existing clients and their designated representatives;
Active development and participation in new business development activities;
Project Team building, management and leadership throughout all phases of project development;
Development of project control budgets and control schedules with particular focus on applying value analysis methodology;
Managing and leading the Project Team’s ongoing interface with project user groups and stakeholders. Ensure the accurate interpretation of programmatic requirements in design;
Application of detailed knowledge of project management methodology in achieving the successful delivery of client projects in full accordance with the goals and objectives established for each project;
Application of detailed knowledge of construction methodology, costing and procurement;
Preparation and communication of project status reporting with clients;
Interfacing with approving authorities with respect to expediting site plan approvals, development agreements, building permits, occupancy requirements and other required regulatory approvals specific to projects;
Utilization of industry standard computer applications in carrying out project management duties.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Eight (8) or more years of continuous and progressively challenging project management experience in the development of institutional, commercial and/or industrial building projects;
Registered in good standing as a Professional Engineer in Ontario, (P.Eng.);
Project Management Professional (PMP) designation from the Project Management Institute;
A university degree in engineering or related equivalent;
Excellent proficiency using industry relevant computer applications and technology;
Superior analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills;
Proven organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize competing demands;
Ability to build effective working relationships at all levels across customer organizations, as well as influence and persuade all related key decision makers and multiple stakeholders;
Knowledge structuring and negotiating industry-relevant complex contracts and related agreements;
Strong client service focus and proven ability to deliver outcomes that meet/exceed expectations;
Superior leadership skills and experience managing teams;
Exceptional communication and presentation skills with strong attention to detail;
Common sense and judgment combined with strong business acumen;
